Wait!

**Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.** Psalm 27:14

Wait. One of the most miserable words in the English language!! Wait! Wait! Wait!

The main reason I never liked this word is because I misunderstood it. I had in my mind that it really meant–the answer is no, so stop asking! But overtime I have had a better understanding of what David means when he tells us to wait.

Wait actually means to stay close and anticipate an answer. To patiently expect God to do what He does best. It is just going to take some time.

When we wait on the LORD, we are encouraging our own hearts. We are NOT discouraging our hearts with a lack of faith or disbelief that God will not consider our requests.

Actually, the waiting makes us stronger. Sounds strange but it’s true.

Have you ever asked God for something and He answered you right away? I have. Many times. But the thing is that there are not many of those times that I could tell you what it is that God answered. They were quick and helpful, but not always memorable.

But when I have had to wait… days, weeks, months …for an answer. I remember those. Because they are monumental answers, right? Because they cost me and they cost God something to get it resolved. It cost me time, and effort, Sometimes it cost me tears, and a stretching of my faith.

I grew through it. I deepened my understanding of prayer and faith through the waiting. I learned to believe more in what God can do and trust him with the timing and the outcome. And God accomplished in me much more than I even know.

Waiting on the LORD is a good thing. A growing thing. A strengthening of our faith and heart thing.

**Wait, I say, on the LORD.**

It will make you stronger. It will make you better.
