** The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. ** Psalm 34:7
Angels are an interesting subject. They appear here and there throughout the Bible. About 300 times.
They show up in a fiery bush.
On a ladder.
They call out from heaven to desperate single moms.
They lead God’s people.
They fight for God’s people.
Animals can see them.
They sit under oak trees.
They do magic tricks.
They speak to barren women.
They can bring destruction and death.
They refresh weary preachers.
They appear before kings.
They protect God’s children in fiery furnaces.
They reveal secrets about the future.
They are joyful beings, full of praise.
They are warriors.
They are eternal.
They seem to be present at every important moment in history for God’s people.
They are messengers.
There are too many of them to count.
Every church has one.
Children have at least one and their angels have first row access to God to fight for them.
There are good angels and bad angels.
And yet, we ask ourselves if they really exist. 300 times the Bible records them and what they do and still we doubt.
Sometimes we feel like we are here all alone. But we aren’t.
God has sent His angels to watch over us. To watch over those who fear Him.
**The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels: the Lord is among them, as in Sinai, in the holy place. ** Psalm 68:17
**And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.** Matthew 24:31
**And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. ** 2 Kings 6:17
Do WE need to see them to believe they are there?
