**And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee:** Deut 7:13
**But let them that love him be as the sun when he goeth forth in his might.** Judges 5:31
I hope you all had a nice Valentine’s Day and that you were able to show True Love to someone dear to you. Today, we’re going to look at how True Love makes our world bigger and brighter.
I’ve included two portions from two different verses in the Old Testament. I encourage you to read these verses and the verses around them In your Bible to get the whole context. But for today’s purposes, we’re just going to focus on how God makes our life bigger and brighter because of his True Love.
Our verse in Deuteronomy tells us that God will multiply us, It says He will bless us with children, He will bless us with profitable work, and He will give us a place to call our own.
When God’s True Love enters our life everything gets better. Which is not to say that there will not be difficult days but the end of our life story will be about a generous portion of God’s blessings.
Our verse from the book of Judges tells us that when we return God’s love we shine as the Sun. What??
It’s like this: God loves us and blesses every area of our lives. We return God’s love and it makes our life brighter.
It might be easier to understand this if we apply it to our relationships. Whether it be marriage, parent and child, or our friendships, the principle is the same. When we invest love into another person, it makes their life better. To feel loved by someone makes our heart grow like the Grinch’s heart grew when the little girl from the story loved the grouchy, green Grinch. Because our heart now is bigger because we are loved, we now reflect back that love to the one that loved us and to others because the shining of the Sun doesn’t touch just one spot on the planet, right? It covers an entire hemisphere.
So if we can learn to love our spouse, love our children and love those around us, once that person receives that love, the love comes back to us, love bounces off of them on to us again. But even better than that, the love that we put into another person not only comes back to us but it now makes that person stronger to be able to go out and love others. We and they are now shining True Love out across the Hemisphere just like the Sun.
True Love makes us bigger and better. Because True Love is always shared. And just as the boy in the gospels shared his five loaves and two fishes and it fed thousands, so our True Love shines over many.
Go out and love somebody today, maybe someone who didn’t get a valentine, or maybe the person who’s right in front of you.
Be the sunshine in their lives.
He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. 1John 2:10
