**How long will ye vex my soul, and break me in pieces with words?**
Our words are a powerful weapon. We can impact for good or for evil, for death or for life.
We can encourage, uplift, ease pain, strengthen, and refresh one another or we can tear down, insult, criticize and bully.
Our words can leave a scar. Our words can open old wounds and leave someone bleeding over and over again. Our words can last forever.
There are things that people have said to me that have stayed with me for years. Some have helped me to grow, others have made me want to throw in the towel. But they have all left their mark.
As I have taken these past few days to regroup and ponder on our near and distant future, i have thought about this topic of WORDS. What have I said to others, what do I want to be known for?
What we say, also clarifies to us how we are really doing in our growth journey.
** Out of the abundance of the mouth the heart speaketh.** Matthew 12:34
It clues us in to what is going on in our heart. It shows us the disease and weakness of a heart that still needs some good medicine. It reminds us of who we really are.
We all need to guard our heart and watch our words. They reveal too much. More than we want others to know about us.
I wonder what life would be like if we were more careful with what we say. I wonder if our countries and our culture would be different. Our marriages, our friendships. I wonder.
I wonder if I could be different.
