** I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. ** Psalm 34:1
All of us have one or more favorite passages in the Bible. One of mine is John 15, and Psalm 34 is on the top of the list as well. About 12 years ago, the Lord took me through this Psalm over a period of about 6 months. No matter what else I was reading, He would call me back to this Psalm. He helped me to dig into it. To find those hidden treasures, those life lessons. It’s lessons have stayed with me and because God’s Word is so rich and deep, He continues to teach me from those lessons again and again.
We all know that the word ‘bless’ can mean to be happy or to make happier. For example,
** Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness**…The Beatitudes from Matthew 5 give us several ways to bring happiness into our life. A few days ago, we also talked about how to be happy in life.
But today’s verse talks about someone else’s happiness.
God’s.
**I will bless the LORD at all times**…..
I will ‘MAKE THE LORD HAPPY or HAPPIER” at all times…..
That is a pretty bold statement, right?
How do we make the Lord happy at ALL times?
The answer is in the verse….
** his praise shall continually be in my mouth. **
We could go off into several directions with that statement.
We could talk about how we use our mouth. Is it full of God’s praise, or our own?
Continually….Do any of us talk about God ALL the time?
How do we praise the Lord? What words do we use? Is there a shortcut to praise?
And how does our praise make GOD happy?
We are going to take a journey through this Psalm for the next many posts. I hope you will take a good look at Psalm 34 and meditate on it and allow God to take you down one of his secret roads and then join in the discussion and help us all learn more about what the Lord wants us to know about how to make him happy.
