**Charity suffereth long, and is kind; ** 1 Corinthians 13:4
I was looking over yesterday’s post. As I reread 1 Corinthians 13:4, it reminded me of a few things that have happened in my world in the last few days…
An adulterous husband (Christian) (not mine) went from sinner to victim. His wife went from victim to sinner.
An article in an online newspaper talked about how mean patients are being to the doctor’s that are taking care of them and trying to keep them alive.
A Christian man I know verbally attacked another Christian and then when rebuked, justified his behavior.
A young Christian woman who is going through a tough season in life, insulted her mother publicly.
I, personally, was angry with my husband for nearly an entire day. He was not at fault.
** Charity suffereth long and is kind. **
** Charity suffereth long and is kind. **
** Charity suffereth long and is kind. **
It should be our mantra. We should say it over and over again until it sticks down deep in our soul.
We, (I), need to learn to not react to my circumstances, but to breathe and think and pray, before I say anything. I need to be more like Thumper. Better yet, I need to be more like Jesus.
Written on a post-it note and stuck to my bathroom wall is the following—” When given the choice to be right or to be kind, choose kind.”
In other words, love thy neighbor as thyself. None of us likes to be yelled at, insulted, publicly criticized, demeaned, humiliated, or completely ignored. If we don’t like it, why do we think others do?
** Charity suffereth long and is kind.** Let’s all choose to be kinder.
