** The Lord hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all. ** Psalm 103:19
I think we can all agree that the world has lost its mind. Every day we read or watch the news and realize that Man left to himself will only bring bad results. At the top of the list….Abortion of the unborn and the newly born. Overreach of government control. Perversion at the highest levels of leadership. Excessive wealth that makes one so bored with the everyday that one has to seek the vilest of practices to feel alive.
Is the Lord blind to all of this vile living? We all know that He isn’t.
His Word teaches us that we reap what we sow. In the past few years, we have seen some reaping by those who have tested the limits of acceptable behavior. Dark secrets of various industries have come to light. Men and women have had their sins laid bare for all the world to see. They have learned that they can **be sure your sin will find you out.** (Numbers 32)
When we read through the Old Testament, we see again and again words similar to….’the Lord provoked King so and so 1 to rise up against King so and so 2.’ ‘the Lord sent prophet Q to anoint so and so to be king over such and such a nation.
As evil as some leaders have chosen to be over the generations, the Lord is the one who puts them on their temporary throne. The Lord raises them up. The Lord takes them down. And one by one, the Lord puts His plan into motion. King by King. Generation after generation. To try our hearts. Until He comes back. And makes it all right again.
In the meantime, **The Lord hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.**
The Lord has not lost His grip on our world. We do not live in the worse generation of sinners ever known to man. From the beginning, Adam chose to rebel against God. One generation later we see his son committing the first murder. Today, our generation, looks like all the other generations. It is just that ours is broadcast on the internet and social media. There are few places to hide our sin. Leaders across the planet are finding that out and paying the price. And we continue to be deluged with the dark news of the sins of many, in the form of real news and fake news.
So, what is the upside to all of this desire for the vilest of life?
**The Lord hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.**
The Lord is forgiving, merciful, gracious, kind, patient and slow to anger. We have been reminded of all of this throughout Psalm 103. The upside to sin is that He is in control. At times, it is hard to see it and hard to believe it. But, He always is. No matter what information we receive today, in this life, the Lord still reigns. He is Ruler over all. Despite the vile acts of those in authority, the Lord has not forgotten His promises or moved His timetable. He is coming back. Maybe today, maybe tomorrow, maybe 100 years from now. But He is coming back, to make it all right. To purge our world from the vilest of the vile. And to establish His throne of righteousness and peace, here on earth.
While we wait for that to happen, we just have to keep our eyes on Him. By faith. Believing and trusting that He knows what He is doing. And thank Him from saving us from our own sins.
And pray.
Pray for the lost. Pray for our families. Pray for our leaders. Pray for our churches. Pray for His coming.
Pray that we will be able to tell one more person about Him.
Even so, come, Lord Jesus.**
