The Path of Mercy

**All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.** Psalm 25:10

This verse is in my Top Ten list of favorites. It holds an amazing promise for those that love God and his Word.

All of us have those days when we think that we just cannot take in any more bad news or deal with one more problem.

That is where today’s verse touches our hearts. Because it carries our heart directly to the heart of God.

Everything that God does or allows in our lives is embodied with his mercy. He NEVER gives us all that we deserve, neither will He give us all that we deserve of evil, hardship or pain.

On our worse day, we do not suffer in proportion to all the evil that we have committed in our lives or even in our today.

The law of God is pure without question. It is truth that is higher than any opinion or reasoning. It never lies, deceives, and never falls to the ground useless or powerless.

Hebrews 4:12 says his Word is **quick and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword…and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. **

But if you look closely at today’s verse in Psalm 25, you will see something that is even greater than God’s Word, something that has priority over his Word….I know…it is a mind blower…but there it is…word #8….

MERCY….MERCY…MERCY

God will show his MERCY before He holds us accountable to his Word. He will show us mercy before he corrects our actions or attitudes. He gives us time to do that ourselves, by his MERCY!! He steps back and waits to see if we will see our own mistakes, change our opinion, turn ourselves back around and in his direction.

Our God is not a ferocious monster waiting to pounce and prove us wrong. He wants US to figure that out on our own. (easiest done by reading his Word)

His MERCY, that goes before everything that He does, should make us want to dance and shout! Who else do we know that treats us like that? Who else gives us space to fix things before he has to call us out on it? Does our boss? Our spouse? Our friends? I don’t think so. Not like God does.

If we are struggling with something to thank God for, let’s start with his MERCY! Let’s thank him for NOT giving us all the evil that we deserve. Even on our worse days. Because his MERCY is greater than anything this life can throw at us.

Our God is a great God, the only God, because He is ….

RICH IN MERCY!!
