The Best Place to Find Help Now!

Where is the Best Place to Find Help?

There are two sources to go to for help when things go wrong. One is as close as a phone call or text message. The other is with us all the time. Which is the best place to find help for you?

Where can we find help in time of need?

Source# 1: Other human beings!

The source of help that is at the other end of the phone is you and me! Any of us can call a friend, neighbor or family member that we know is more than willing to lend a helping hand in times of trouble. They are people that we trust, people we can count on.

** For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. ** Ecclesiastes 4:10

We can think of a few times that others were the catalyst for help in the Bible.

People like Priscilla and Aquila loved to lend a hand whenever they could.

**Greet Priscilla and Aquila my helpers in Christ Jesus: ** Romans 16:3

Isaiah tells us that in times of trouble, **They helped every one his neighbour; and every one said to his brother, Be of good courage. ** Isaiah 41:6

The Book of Nehemiah is filled with neighbors working together for the good of everyone.

The noble widow of 1 Timothy 5 is known for the help she gives to others, as is Dorcas in the Book of Acts.

The people in our own world come to the rescue when things get tough. Life is full of reasons to help others and to ask for help for ourselves.

When we see someone else struggling in some area of their lives, we can find some way to lend a hand. We can encourage, strengthen, and stand by a friend’s side to support them during their troubles. We can be present physically and mentally, we can help with our word with our actions. Depending on the trial they are facing, we may need to help by offering money, food, meals, or clothing. Help comes in many forms. We just need to be sensitive to their need and then find the best way to help.

Additionally, we have technology to help us help others. We can send a text message. We can send out a note to others to join us in helping a friend in need. We can send words of encouragement at the push of a button. It is easier than ever to find a quick way to help and encourage a friend.

Source #2: GOD

Our second and supernatural source is the constant presence of the Lord. From Genesis to Revelation we can see the Lord helping His children.

**God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. ** Psalm 46:1

**yea, i will help thee** Isaiah 41:10

**Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation.** Psalm 38:22

**Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance. ** Psalm 42:5

**Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.** Psalm 63:7

**So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. ** Hebrews 13:6

**Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.** Psalm 124:8

**… with us is the Lord our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah. ** 2 Chronicles 32:8

Knowing we are not alone causes us to rest in the middle of a problem. Having the Lord watching over us and fighting our battles for us, brings comfort and the strength to face them. He will know exactly what needs to be done and He will do what is best for everyone involved.

Together, we can work hand-in-hand with God when He is helping someone we know. We can listen to His Voice to guide us and give us ideas on how to help someone in their suffering. If we don’t hear anything specific we can always lift them up in prayer, which will get the communication going with the Lord. Once we have declared ourselves available to help, the Lord will answer.

We have mentioned in other posts that ‘we are laborers together with God’. Whether we cry out to God first and a friend second, or vice-versa, God and us are the sources of help for our fellow man.

The best places to find help now? In God and in the people around us!
