Peace Alarm

** Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. ** Isaiah 26:3

One of the quickest ways to know if we are truly trusting the Lord in whatever we are dealing with today is to measure our level of peace. On a scale of 1 to 10, how do we measure up? If we score below a 5 maybe we need to sound the peace alarm.

When someone asks us a question about how our grown children are doing, do we answer with perfect peace and trust that the Lord is doing a perfect work in them? Or do we get uncomfortable, worried, frustrated, weepy, or even angry and end up scoring a 2 on the trust meter?

Or how about when we talk to our spouses about our finances? Does that conversation provoke a sense of peace and that all is well? Do our words demonstrate that we truly believe God’s promises to provide for us? Or do we score a 4 as a good attempt but the meter shows us clearly that we are not quieting the peace alarm?

How about when we are running behind schedule and we get stuck in a traffic jam or in a long line at the store? Would the guy in the next car or next aisle say we are exuding peace? What number would he give us on the trust meter?

Life and its trials are a constant test to our peace. Our trials remind us of just how many areas of our lives are not truly surrendered to the Lord. But if we can learn to put every errand, every conversation, every pending bill, and every relationship before the Lord in prayer, we will see that peace will be our go-to emotion and the peace meter will never sound the alarm.

Here’s a few verses to think about regarding our peace meters.

** For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. ** Romans 8:6

** But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith…** Galatians 5:22

** Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us.** Selah. 62:8

–The only way we will ever find true peace is when we lean on God and trust Him to work out our life according to His plan one peaceful day at a time.

** These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. ** John 16:33

** grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ. ** Galatians 1:3j

May you live in peace.
