What does it mean to be Heart Sick?

What does it mean to be Heart Sick is a good question to start the day.

**Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; ** Psalm 103:3

** And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. ** Matthew 4:23

Jesus’ ministry, in part, was to heal each person of whatever infirmity they were living with….blindness, deafness, being lame, issues of blood, leprosy…Matthew reminds us that he healed anything that the people brought to him.

But Matthew also reminds us that his first ministry was going, teaching and preaching the Kingdom and a life that was led by the Spirit of His Word.

God’s heart is to see us healthy spiritually before He is going to deal with our physical ailments. So, if you, like me, are going through a season of physical infirmity, rest in the understanding that it is part of His way of healing us spiritually. Heart infirmities like healing old hurts. Or healing dark corners of our hearts that have become moldy from lack of Jesus’ light.

Each of us have different wounds and injuries and spiritual sickness in our hearts that the Lord is ready to deal with. When our bodies become weak, He can dig deeper inside of us because we resist Him less.

Salvation through Christ gives us a fresh washing inside and out. But we tend to get run down when we don’t deal with life the way the Lord would like us to. Wrong reactions and decisions invite infirmities that leave us more open to the need for His dealing in our hearts.

The issue that I believe the Lord is dealing with me, personally, through this flu season? Contentment: Being content in whatever state I am in. (Whether it is a season of abundance and blessing or a season of scarcity and confusion or a season of disagreement with the Lord regarding my current trials.) Contentment is easier to write than to live from the heart.

Are you in a health trial today? What might the Lord be dealing with you about that you might like to share with all of us? Is a check up in order from the Great Physician?
