Double Check your Heart!

** The LORD….grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfill all thy counsel.** Psalm 20:4

In yesterday´s post, we talked about the need to think right from the heart, so that our words will be fruitful. Let´s talk a little more about our heart.

If you read Psalm 20, you will see that David is giving a blessing, much like Moses did in Numbers 6. He prays that the Lord will hear our prayers when we are in trouble, that He will defend us, and send us help, and strengthen us, remembering what we have done and given in the past for Him.

The interesting thing to me is that he seems to be giving this blessing on the condition of our own heart.

**The LORD grant thee according to thine own heart**

What goes around comes around, no? If we have done all that we have done for God with a pure heart then David´s blessing will bring God to our rescue whenever we need Him.

But what if our heart is not as bright and shiny as we need it to be? What if we did some of those things for selfish reasons? What happens to David´s blessing?

**We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the LORD fulfill all thy petitions.** v5

This is strictly my opinion, but it seems like David gives us the answer to our heart problem.

We need to go back to Square One. Go back to the day when God rocked our world. Go back to the thoughts and purpose we felt at that moment. The feeling that everything was going to be ok. The idea that with God nothing would be impossible. The focus that now EVERYTHING in our lives belongs to HIM!

Then build on that.

We all get distracted or off track from time to time. No worries. Remember….

God is RICH IN MERCY!!

He doesn´t give us what we deserve. He doesn´t give up on us for making mistakes. He doesn´t walk away because we are in a bad season.

So, if your heart is giving you problems, just take a few steps back and get some new perspective. Remember what the LORD did for you and purpose to do better. That is all He asks. Just be ** forward a year ago**. We can all do that! Can´t we?
