** Bless the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word. Bless ye the Lord, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure. Bless the Lord, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the Lord, O my soul. ** Psalm 103: 20-22
Today, we end our mini study of this Psalm, understanding a little better that we, those that believe in the Lord and worship Him for who He is and all that He has and can do, must bless and praise Him. Psalm 103 gives us a good, long list of reasons to bless, kneel down before, worship and praise our God.
David writes this Psalm as an earthly man on that has a very personal relationship with his Heavenly Eternal God. Each of us has that same opportunity to know this same God and to praise and worship Him as David did.
God is our reason to live and breathe, to praise Him, to tell others of all that He has done for us, to glorify Him as often as we can. We recognize our frailty, like that of a flower in a windy field and we kneel before His greatness and bless His name.
Our Psalm also ends with others besides we humans who praise and bless the Lord.
They are Angels, host of them. They are ministers that fulfill the Lord’s will. His Heavenly ministers. They are those that are sent to activate His will on the earth. Those that fight for His children, empowered by God, to bring answers to prayer, that hold us up when our strength is all but gone. **And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire. ** Hebrews 1:7
We know from Paul’s teaching that we have these same instructions from the Lord. **Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. ** 2 Corinthians 3:6
We are those that learn and preach and teach the Word. We are the Lord’s ministers on earth as priests and prophets, as servants in our churches and as tabernacles for His Spirit in us. We talk of Him with our mouth and we show others who He is in us with our actions and our attitudes. The New Testament is one of love and grace and being peacemakers. It is Christ in us. It is the fruit of the Spirit in us. The fruit of joy, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance. It is not the fruit of judgment and condemnation.
The angels do their job well. They excel in strength, they do His commandments, they listen to the voice of His Word. Their job is very similar to ours. It is our responsibility also to be strong, to listen intently and on purpose to the Lord, in order to know what He is telling us to do and how to obey. And to learn to be like Him.
**Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:** 2 Thessalonians 1:11
**For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.** Philippians 2:13
May we all learn to bless the Lord along with the hosts of Heaven, every day, bowing before His throne, His Holiness, His everlasting love, His forgiving Spirit.
** Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. **
